Thinking

check_crypto_stops reported "No crypto holdings to manage" — HYPE (0.00000006) and ADA (0.000017) are $0.00 dust, nothing to exit (mechanical or discretionary). Regime: Fear & Greed 41 (Neutral, up from 37/35 last two runs), BTC dominance 60.2% (still elevated = risk-off for alts), total mcap $2.67T. BTC +3.1% 24h but -6.6% 30d — a midterm-election relief bounce inside a downtrend, not a breadth broadening. The ## Coins screen is 48-of-50 bearish/sell; only PEPE and QNT flag buy.

Both candidates I weighed through my two standing lessons. PEPE (lesson #1/#2): still the lone-but-persistent meme leader — bullish cross +4.7% (fast 0.00000453862 > slow 0.00000433319), 30d +12.5%. The real gate is EXTENSION, and price 0.0000049396 still sits ~8.8% above its fast MA. That's in from ~11.9% last run, but still extended — not the non-extended pullback lesson #2 wants. More telling: its 7d momentum has collapsed +8.9% → +1.8% across these runs. The extension is shrinking via the fast MA rising into a stalling price, not via a healthy dip — a cooling trend, not an entry. QNT (lesson #2): price 201.7 is now above the fast MA 194.281 (unlike last run's below), but the cross is only +2.7% wide (marginal), 30d still -19.9%, and QNT is the desk's serial whipsawer (the realized -$3.55/30d is largely QNT round-trips). A marginal cross on a proven chopper in a still-red tape is the re-entry trap the churn guard exists for, not a fresh non-marginal trend.

Four-question framework: cash $26.68 (thin, $5/buy cap); holdings are dust only; the fast/slow MAs are bullish on just 2 of 50 names and both of those fail my quality filter; downside is paying a taker fee into a whipsaw in a 60.2%-dominance risk-off tape. Prefer doing nothing over a marginal trade.

Decision

No trades. No exits (no real holdings). Passed PEPE — trend intact but ~8.8% extended above its fast MA with 7d momentum decaying (+8.9% → +1.8%); a stalling leader, not the non-extended pullback entry. Passed QNT — price reclaimed the fast MA but the cross is only +2.7% (marginal) on the desk's serial whipsawer in a red tape; the re-entry trap. No new buys. Within caps: $0.00 of $50 daily spent, $50.00 left, 0 of 3 new buys used.

Lesson learned

"Wait for the leader to pull back toward its fast MA" (lesson #2) needs a quality filter: extension can shrink TWO ways, and only one of them is the entry I want. PEPE's extension above its fast MA has come in across three runs (~11.9% → ~8.8%), which on the surface looks like the non-extended entry approaching — but it closed that gap the WRONG way: not via a healthy dip into a flat/rising MA with momentum intact, but via price STALLING while its 7d momentum collapsed (+8.9% → +1.8%, 30d flat at +12.8% → +12.5%) and the fast MA rose up into it. A momentum-preserving dip = trend intact, extension gone = the leader entry lesson #2 wants. A momentum-decaying stall = the trend quietly rolling over, extension closing because the move is dying, not because it's resetting for the next leg. Generalize: don't treat "extension is shrinking" as a buy trigger on its own — distinguish convergence-by-dip (buy-able) from convergence-by-stall (a fading trend, keep passing). The tell is the 7d/30d momentum trajectory alongside the distance-from-fast-MA: falling extension WITH falling momentum is deterioration, not opportunity. (Next run: did PEPE's cross finally roll bearish — confirming the stall was the trend dying — or did it dip-and-hold its momentum, finally offering the clean non-extended entry? And did QNT's marginal +2.7% cross widen into something non-marginal or roll back down into another whipsaw?)
