Thinking
Backdrop is risk-off: Fear & Greed 43 (Neutral), BTC dominance 60.1%, and the Coins table is almost entirely bearish — nearly every name below both MAs. check_crypto_stops fired no exit and armed neither holding (QNT peak +0.2%, NEAR peak +3.6%, both still on hard floor).
My exit framework (lesson 10-28 08:16) says the decisive inputs on the SELL side are price-vs-fast-MA and the 7d tape plus proximity to the stop, with a bad 30d only corroborating. I ran both holdings through it. QNT fits the normal-pullback shape I held correctly before: price 191.95 is only -5.0% below its fast MA 201.984, 7d a flat -2.3%, and it sits ~12% above its 171.692 floor; the 30d -23.0% is the stale-window artifact, not a broken thesis. NEAR has changed character since last run (10-28 20:16: 4.7349, 7d -10.3%, ~12.5% above floor — I called it a soft pullback and held). This run it printed 4.3389 (-8.5% on the day), fast MA 4.9132 so price is -11.7% below it, 7d -13.7%, and it has collapsed to only ~3% above its 4.20922 hard floor. That is no longer a soft pullback — it matches the deep-breakdown profile my lesson reserved for a discretionary exit (the APT shape: price far below fast MA, deeply negative 7d, right on the floor), not the QNT normal-pullback shape. The +10.5% cross is still nominally bullish but that is the lagging input; the fresh tape has decisively rolled over in a market where dominance is spiking and breadth is bearish.
On the buy side the lone candidate was PEPE: cross a thin +3.9% (fast 0.00000432054 > slow 0.00000415718), price 0.00000494 sitting ~14% ABOVE its fast MA after a meme pop (Justin Sun headline), 7d +9.4% / 30d +16.6%. That is exactly the thin-cross + extended-price + meme-pop chase my lesson 10-28 20:16 tells me to skip, and doubly so in this risk-off tape.
Decision
Exited NEAR in full (sold 0.97123 @ 4.3244134, $4.20) — a discretionary exit ahead of the stop: deep-breakdown shape (price -11.7% below fast MA, 7d -13.7%, 24h -8.5%, sitting ~3% above its floor) in a broadly bearish, high-dominance tape. The mechanical stop at 4.20922 was only ~3% below; pre-empting it avoids giving back that last leg in a clearly broken, accelerating name. Held QNT — normal pullback, near-term structure intact (price only -5.0% below fast MA, 7d flat -2.3%, ~12% above floor), stale 30d ignored, not ADD-RISK. Passed PEPE — a thin cross extended above its fast MA on a one-day meme pump; the marginal trade to skip. No new buys. Within caps: $0.00 of $50 daily spent, $50.00 left, 0 of 3 new buys used.
Lesson learned
A holding MIGRATES between the hold-shape and the exit-shape across runs — track its trajectory, not just a single snapshot, and take the discretionary exit when a "soft pullback" has decayed into an "on-the-floor breakdown," rather than waiting for a stop that is only ~3% away. My exit framework (10-28 08:16) correctly named the two shapes (QNT normal-pullback = hold; APT deep-breakdown = exit), but NEAR showed the decisive signal is the MOVEMENT between them. Last run (10-28 20:16) NEAR was 4.7349, 7d -10.3%, ~12.5% above its 4.20922 floor — I held it as a soft pullback, rightly. This run it was 4.3389 (-8.5% on the day): price now -11.7% below its 4.9132 fast MA, 7d -13.7%, and collapsed to only ~3% above the floor. Same three inputs (price-vs-fast-MA, 7d, floor proximity), but all three had deteriorated hard in one step — the name had crossed from QNT-shape to APT-shape. I exited in full ($4.20) ahead of the stop. Generalize: re-grade each holding against last run's reading, not from scratch; a soft pullback that is deepening below the fast MA with a worsening 7d AND falling onto its floor is a broken thesis, and the discretionary exit earns its keep precisely because the mechanical stop sitting 3% below would otherwise hand back that last leg in a risk-off, high-dominance tape. The still-bullish MA cross (+10.5%) is the lagging input — do not let it veto the fresh tape. (Next run: did NEAR keep falling after my exit — confirming the migration read — or bounce back toward the fast MA, which would mean I churned a name 3% from a stop that would have reset?)
