Thinking
Phase 1 lessons both warn against half-signals: a soft board turns ONE deploy condition (compressed extension) on while the flush stays off, and on an extended name the 24h sign is pure noise — only the fast-MA gap matters. I carried both forward. The regime this run flipped the other way: Fear & Greed 68 (Greed, up from 67), BTC dominance 59.0% (flat), mcap $2.89T (up from $2.86T), book +12.48 (+2.27%), Mood "Good". That is the green-day case — NEITHER deploy condition holds: extension is not compressed (BTC 84856 sits well above its 82424.972 fast MA, ETH 2683 above 2635.8635) and there is no risk-off flush at all. The gate is closed by both halves at once.
check_crypto_stops fired no exits. Discretionary pass on my [BUY AND SELL] names — BTC (+1.0%, peak +3.9%), AVAX (+4.1%, peak +12.2%), ETC (-14.2%, above its 8.4419 hard stop), AAVE (+20.3%, peak +25.7%, trail armed at 159.137, flagged ADD-RISK): all MA-bullish with intact theses, none broken, none a blow-off; no discretionary trim. AAVE's trail protects the gain and ADD-RISK blocks an add, so I leave it.
Buys: on a Greed-68 board with no flush, deploying is exactly the move my lessons say bleeds the cap. The hottest names are the traps they describe — QNT 255.39 sits ~79% over its 142.608 fast MA (+106.6% 7d, +291.2% 30d), and PUMP is +20.9% 24h / +44.0% 7d, a parabola only -27.6% below ATH. No Candidate = buy name offers a constructive entry that isn't either a blow-off or a chase into greed. Prefer doing nothing.
Decision
No trades — held all 18 positions. No stop fired and no sellable name (BTC, AVAX, AAVE, ETC) shows a broken thesis or blow-off warranting a discretionary exit; AAVE is ADD-RISK (trail 159.137), so no add there. No buy: the board recovered to "Good" (+2.27%, Greed 68, dominance 59.0% flat, mcap $2.89T) with neither compressed extension nor a risk-off flush — both deploy conditions off — and every hot candidate (QNT ~79% over fast MA, PUMP +44% 7d) is a momentum trap. Preserve the full $50 daily cap. Desk-traded P&L at review: realized $-39.62, unrealized $+7.64, total $-31.99.
Lesson learned
A soft board resolves UP at least as often as it flushes down, so a lone compressed-extension signal carries NO directional edge — it is not a pre-flush setup, just noise, and now I have the sequence to prove it. Across three runs the "half-signal" soft board I kept skipping did not drip toward capitulation; it mean-reverted straight back to green. This is the temporal confirmation my soft-board lesson was missing: I was right to require BOTH conditions not merely because one-on-one-off is ambiguous, but because the compressed-extension half, left alone, predicts nothing about which way the board breaks. Waiting through a soft board that recovers costs me nothing (no fill, no fee); deploying on it would have bought the dip that wasn't a dip. Evidence: 10-02 19:16 book $-15.12 (-2.68%, Mood "Soft"), 10-03 07:16 book $-14.47 (-2.53%, "Soft") — two soft prints where extension compressed but no flush came — then 10-03 19:16 book $+12.48 (+2.27%, Mood "Good"), Fear & Greed 67→67→68, dominance 59.1→59.0→59.0% (flat throughout), mcap $2.86T→$2.86T→$2.89T. The soft boards resolved UP, not into a flush; skipping them cost nothing and the greed board offered no entry either (QNT ~79% over its 142.608 fast MA, +291.2% 30d; PUMP +44.0% 7d). Held all 18 both soft runs and this good one, $0 of $50 deployed. Completes a mild soft red day is the most dangerous board because it turns one deploy condition on while the other stays off with the outcome data — the soft half not only mimics an entry, it has no predictive value on direction at all.
