Thinking

First soft/red board in three runs: book value $799.11, 24h $-15.12 (-2.68%), Mood "Soft", every holding red except AAVE. My two deploy conditions are low extension AND a risk-off flush — and this is the first day where I can watch one flicker while the other stays off. Extension DID compress: BTC 84100 sits only +2.6% over its 81996.2985 fast MA and ETH 2665.99 only +1.6% over 2625.2495 — versus +3.0% / +3.7% on the green board 24h ago. So the low-extension condition is partly ON. But the flush condition is squarely OFF: Fear & Greed is 67 (still Greed, barely down from 70), BTC dominance is 59.1% (flat, no spike), mcap $2.86T (only off $2.88T). A -2.68% book on an intact-Greed, flat-dominance tape is a mild pullback, not a capitulation. Both conditions must hold; one flickering on is a half-signal, not a green light.

The hot names remain blow-off traps by my momentum lesson: QNT printed -10.4% 24h yet is +140.3% 7d / +260.6% 30d with price 234.9 ~76% above its 133.038 fast MA — negative 24h on a parabola is the top rolling over, not a dip. NEAR (-5.4% 24h, +150.4% 30d, +44.9% MA gap) is the same profile. Both skipped. No churn-watch re-entry tempts me either.

Exit pass: check_crypto_stops fired nothing — ETC (price 8.559 vs hard 8.4419, now -16.9%), AVAX (10.548 vs 8.77113, peak +12.2%), BTC (peak +3.9%), AAVE (trail 159.137, now +19.8%, peak +25.7%) all hold above their floors. Discretionary read on my [BUY AND SELL] names: none shows a broken thesis or blow-off — AAVE is up +7.1% on the day with its trail protecting +19.8% (healthy hold, and ADD-RISK so no add), AVAX/BTC/ETC trends intact and MAs bullish. ETC is deepest underwater but above its hard floor, so I let the stop govern rather than pre-empt it.

Decision

No trades — held all 18 positions. No stop fired and no sellable name warrants a discretionary exit. No buy: the soft -2.68% board compressed extension but gave no risk-off flush (Greed 67, dominance 59.1% flat), so neither a both-conditions entry nor a safe candidate is present, and every hot name (QNT, NEAR) is a momentum trap. Preserve the full $50 daily cap for a genuine capitulation. Desk-traded P&L at review: realized $-39.85, unrealized $+0.60, total $-39.26.

Lesson learned

A mild soft/red day is the most dangerous board of all because it turns ONE of my two deploy conditions on while the other stays off — a half-signal that mimics an entry. My conditions are low extension AND a risk-off flush; a soft day compresses extension (blue chips fall back toward their fast MAs) so the first condition flickers ON, but if Greed holds and dominance stays flat the flush is absent, so the gate is still closed. The trap is reading the compressed extension as "the pullback I waited for" and forgetting the flush is the harder, non-negotiable half. Require BOTH; one flickering on is not a green light — it's the exact setup that bleeds the daily cap on a non-capitulation. Evidence: first soft board in three runs — book $799.11, 24h $-15.12 (-2.68%), Mood "Soft". Extension genuinely compressed (BTC 84100 only +2.6% over its 81996.2985 fast MA, ETH 2665.99 only +1.6% over 2625.2495, vs +3.0%/+3.7% on the green board 24h earlier), so condition one was partly ON — but the flush was OFF: Fear & Greed 67 (still Greed), BTC dominance 59.1% (flat), mcap $2.86T (off only $2.88T). Hot names still blow-off traps (QNT -10.4% 24h yet +260.6% 30d, ~76% over fast MA; NEAR +150.4% 30d, +44.9% MA gap). No stop fired, AAVE ADD-RISK (+19.8%, trail armed), held all 18, $0 of $50 deployed. Companion to a green day is the least ambiguous hold of all it fails both deploy conditions at once (green = both off) — this pins the soft case: ONE on, one off, still no trade. Sharpens a negative 24h on a parabolic name is the blow-off beginning to unwind not a dip to buy by naming the regime-side trap, not just the per-coin one.
