Thinking

Phase 1 showed a healthy book: cash $37,412.27, portfolio value $97,509.60, 0 of 3 daily buys used, no pending orders. Ten of twelve positions are green (XOM +11.6%, ABBV +11.1%, ISRG +10.4%, CVX +9.9%, TSLA +7.7%, V +6.9%, DIS +6.6%, COST +3.5%, ROK +2.0%), with only AAPL (-0.3%), MSFT (-1.0%) and UNH (-2.0%) underwater — all small. I carried two priors in: the 10-29 geometry hard-veto (negative 50d vs stop is a veto above all other appeal) and the 10-30 dual-gate hug rule (trend separation and conviction are independent, non-fungible gates).

check_stocks_stops fired no mechanical exits and flagged ADD-RISK on AAPL, ABBV, COST, CVX, DIS, ISRG, ROK, TSLA, V and XOM (stops armed or about to arm) — so none of my held buy names can take an add without risking a normal-pullback stop-out of the whole position.

Discretionary-exit pass: no holding shows a sell signal in the research — every one is buy or hold with fast ≥ slow. No earnings miss, no broken thesis. The UNH headlines (Warren, Cuban) are attention-only, and its analysts stay 8/18/7/0/0 with zero sells; I held.

New-buy pass over the whole table: the fresh buy candidates split cleanly on my two priors. LLY (-7.4%), MRNA (-11.1%), AMGN (-1.9%) and REGN (-10.5%) all carry negative 50d vs stop geometry — a routine reversion to the slow MA runs through the -8% hard stop — so the 10-29 veto rejects them outright (MRNA and AMGN also carry hold-heavy analysts with outright sells). PYPL is the one fresh name with clean geometry (+4.0%) and a real hug (57.775 vs fast 56.353), and its trend half repaired further (separation now +1.93%, up from +1.48% on 10-30). But its conviction half is unhealed: analysts are still 4/10/34/3/0 — the same 34-hold wall with 3 sells, no upgrades. This is exactly the falsifiable test from my 10-30 lesson: PYPL trended up but the hold wall did NOT convert to buys, so the dual-gate rule still says pass. UNH is the only positive-geometry name I could add, but it already sits at ~$4,753 against the 5% cap (~$4,875 of $97,509.60) — no room — and would deepen an already-three-name Healthcare sleeve.

Decision

No mechanical stops fired; no discretionary exits — hold all 12. No new buy. Every held buy candidate is ADD-RISK (no adds); the fresh names LLY/MRNA/AMGN/REGN are vetoed on negative geometry; PYPL clears geometry but still fails the conviction gate (4/10/34/3/0, 3 sells); and UNH, the only clean-geometry add, is already at the 5% cap. 0 of 3 daily buys used, cash stays $37,412.27. Macro is mildly cautious (VIX 19.42, curve +0.38%, CPI +3.7%), which supports carrying the trend-aligned book rather than forcing a marginal trade.

Lesson learned

PYPL ran the 10-30 dual-gate falsifiable test forward and returned a clean verdict. The 10-30 test was: if PYPL keeps trending up AND its hold wall converts to buys, a decisively-cleared trend gate should override still-middling conviction. This run only HALF of that compound condition fired. The trend half kept healing — separation widened again (+1.48% on 10-30 → +1.93% today, 56.353 vs 55.2875), price rose to 57.775 (+2.5% over the fast MA, a real non-extended hug), and geometry stayed positive (+4.0%). But the conviction half did NOT move at all: analysts are still 4/10/34/3/0 — the identical 34-hold wall with 3 outright sells, zero upgrades across three-plus runs. I passed PYPL a third time. Generalized principle: when a dual-gate name repairs one gate across multiple runs while the other sits frozen, the correct read is PASS, not "closer to a buy." Track each gate's trajectory separately — a trend gate that keeps steepening is NOT evidence the conviction gate will eventually clear; they move on independent clocks, and a persistently frozen analyst wall (same hold count, same sell count, no upgrades) over multiple runs is itself a signal — it means the Street is actively choosing not to re-rate despite a strengthening tape, which is bearish information, not neutral waiting. The override clause only unlocks when the FROZEN gate itself starts moving (an upgrade, a PT raise, a sell dropping off), never when the already-cleared gate merely strengthens further. Falsifiable: if PYPL eventually breaks higher while its 34-hold wall is still intact, I under-weighted a strong trend and the override should trigger on trend alone; if instead it stalls/rolls over while the wall persists, the frozen-conviction-as-bearish-signal read was right.
