Thinking

Phase 1 lessons front of mind: 10-21 (on re-entry, pick the sub-name least coupled to the cascade factor / orthogonality within a sector) and 10-22 (a name earns its slot by producing carry, not merely surviving — prefer reserving the buy over adding a marginal same-sector name when the setup isn't clean). Both push toward restraint on concentrating, marginal adds.

check_stocks_stops fired no exits and flagged all 10 holdings ADD-RISK (armed or about to arm), so no adds to the book. Discretionary review of each holding: none carries a sell signal — AAPL (+2.0%), ABBV (+9.1%), COST (+1.9%), CVX (+9.8%), DIS (+5.9%), ISRG (+13.7%), NOW (+12.1%), V (+3.8%), XOM (+11.2%) are all bullish with price above both MAs; TSLA (−1.0%) is hold with a bullish MA, not a thesis break. Nothing to exit.

New buys — I worked the whole candidate table, not just my book. The buy-flagged names I do NOT already hold are UNH, LLY, AMGN (all Healthcare) and WBD (Media). WBD rejects outright: 50d vs stop is −0.5% (a routine pullback runs through the hard stop) and analysts are 0/2/19/5/2 (mostly hold/sell). That leaves three Healthcare names — and I already hold ABBV + ISRG (~11% of equity, a working 2-deep block), so any of these is a 3rd stack into one sector with no orthogonal name available to diversify into today.

Decision Framework on the three: cash is ample ($46,239.56, ~47% of equity); MAs all bullish. The deciding factor is downside geometry. LLY 50d vs stop is only +0.9%, UNH only +0.2% — razor-thin. That thin cushion is mechanically the same thing as the price being extended above its own MAs: LLY at 1278.19 sits ~6% over its fast MA (1205.18) and ~7.7% over its slow (1186.70), so a normal mean-reversion toward those MAs would nearly tag the −8% stop. UNH (421.65 vs fast 389.39, +8.3% extended) is worse. Buying either here is chasing an extended move in a choppy tape (VIX 19.03, up from 17.31; 10Y 5.13%; AI-spending-fear sell-off in the news). AMGN has the only real geometry cushion (+2.8%) but the weakest fundamentals of the three (6/12/20/3/1 — mostly holds) and is the exact name I judged too marginal on 10-20 and 10-22; nothing improved it.

So every available trade today is marginal: thin-geometry extension (LLY, UNH), weak-fundamental concentration (AMGN), or a geometry/analyst reject (WBD) — each one a 3rd Healthcare add. "Defensives lead" is attention-context, not a buy reason, and doesn't rescue a stretched entry. Per the framework, cash is a position; I'd rather hold the three buys for a cleaner orthogonal name with real cushion than deploy into extension.

Decision

No exits (mechanical or discretionary) and no new buys. Hold all 10 positions. All 3 daily buys kept in reserve; cash $46,239.56 preserved. The fresh buy candidates were all Healthcare onto an already-working 2-deep block (ABBV, ISRG): LLY (+0.9% stop geometry) and UNH (+0.2%) are extended above their MAs — a routine pullback nearly stops them out; AMGN (+2.8% geometry) carries the weakest analyst support and was already twice-judged marginal; WBD rejects on geometry (−0.5%) and analysts. Prefer dry powder over a marginal, concentrating, extended entry in an elevated-VIX tape.

Lesson learned

The geometry guard ("50d vs stop", negative = reject) is a hard floor, but today showed its spirit reaches further than the sign bit: a thin-but-POSITIVE cushion is mechanically the same thing as the price being extended above its own MAs, which is a chasing entry. Concretely: LLY flagged buy at +0.9% stop-geometry, but price 1278.19 sat ~6% over its fast MA (1205.18) and ~7.7% over its slow (1186.70) — a normal mean-reversion toward those MAs would nearly tag the −8% stop; UNH was worse (+0.2% geometry, price +8.3% over its fast MA). All of today's non-held buy candidates were Healthcare onto an already-working 2-deep block (ABBV +9.1%, ISRG +13.7%), with no orthogonal sector to diversify into: the two quality names (LLY, UNH) were extended/thin, the one with real cushion (AMGN, +2.8%) had the weakest analysts (6/12/20/3/1) and was already twice-judged marginal. Generalized principle: translate a thin positive 50d vs stop into "how far is price extended above its fast/slow MA?" — if a routine reversion to the name's own MAs would run most of the way to the −8% stop, treat it as a soft geometry reject (you are chasing extension), not a pass, especially in an elevated-VIX/choppy tape and especially when the name would also concentrate an already-working sector block. Cash is a position; hold the buys for a name with real cushion AND orthogonality rather than deploy into extension. Falsifiable: if over coming runs the passed names (LLY/UNH) pull back toward their MAs — validating the skip — while a later orthogonal, non-extended entry out-carries what chasing them today would have, the "thin-positive = chasing" reframe was right; if instead LLY/UNH keep trending up without reverting and my reserved cash sits idle through a defensive-led rally, I over-weighted mean-reversion on momentum leaders and should let trend override thin geometry when the sector tape is clearly leading.
