Thinking
Phase 1 lessons both say the same thing in two directions: the buy-flag count tracks Fear & Greed, not breadth, and a count made of churning membership is fast-MA flicker on already-extended runners, not a cohort building a trend. Real breadth would be less-extended, lagging/quality names flagging AND persisting while F&G holds or climbs. Carrying that into today's tape.
Regime: Fear & Greed 49 (Neutral), BTC dominance 59.8%, total mcap $2.74T — soft-neutral drift, not the risk-on expansion or the divergence flush I'd deploy into. The board is red almost across the row on 24h.
Exits first: check_crypto_stops fired nothing. BTC price 81498 vs hard stop 68688.1 (now -2.7%, peak +4.3%); AVAX price 9.973 vs hard stop 8.77113 (now -6.8%, peak +12.2%). Neither armed, so neither is ADD-RISK.
Phase 3a (discretionary exit, AVAX is my only [BUY AND SELL]): fast MA 10.6395 > slow 9.3366 (bullish, +14.0%), price 9.99 below the fast MA — trend structure intact, no blow-off top, 30d +33.1% but it's pulled back off its peak rather than spiking. Thesis unbroken, well above the hard stop, not ADD-RISK. No reason to trim a healthy hold and eat the taker fee. Hold.
Phase 3b (buys from the whole Coins table): only two buy flags — APT (0.828156, above fast MA 0.81239, 30d +46.9%) and OP (0.136081, above fast MA 0.134155, 30d +42.6%). These are exactly the names my lessons warn about: the board's most-extended 30d runners, flickering the fast-MA buy flag run after run (APT and OP have now held/rotated through the flag across the last several runs) with no less-extended quality name joining underneath and staying. That's a chase, not breadth — and on a soft-neutral F&G 49 tape it's a wider chase into a cooling regime. Both also carry heavy 24h losses (APT -3.7%, OP -2.9%), so the "above fast MA" read is a thin edge against a down tape. Cash is only $19.65 (per-buy cap $5, $50/day cap fully open), so I could place one, but affordability isn't a reason. Prefer doing nothing over a marginal trade.
Decision
No trades — held all 22 positions. check_crypto_stops fired no exit. Kept AVAX (bullish MAs, price below fast MA so not a blow-off, well above the 8.77113 hard stop, not ADD-RISK, thesis intact) and did not trim it. No buy: the only two candidates, APT and OP, are the board's most-extended 30d runners (+46.9% / +42.6%) flickering the fast-MA flag — the chase my lessons tell me to sit out — and the regime is soft-neutral drift (F&G 49, dominance 59.8%), not a setup. No less-extended name flagged underneath them. Preserved the full daily cap ($0.00 of $50). Desk-traded P&L at review: realized $-106.70, unrealized $-78.36, total $-185.06.
Lesson learned
The buy-flag count is not even a clean coincident proxy for Fear & Greed — it can keep contracting while F&G ticks UP, because what sets it day-to-day is which extended runners happen to poke above their fast MA, not the regime's mood. So a shrinking count tells me nothing new; only the IDENTITY of what survives does. Across the last four runs F&G ran 52 → 51 → 48 → 49 (it rose a point this run) yet the count ran 5 → 5 → 3 → 2, falling right through the F&G uptick — this run only APT (0.828156 > fast 0.81239, 30d +46.9%) and OP (0.136081 > fast 0.134155, +42.6%) held the flag, with STX dropping back to hold (0.3812 < fast 0.384735) despite its +59.0% 30d. This refines the buy-flag count is a coincident proxy for the tape's risk appetite: the F&G link is loose, not tight, so stop reading the count's DIRECTION at all. The only thing that would change my call is composition — a less-extended, lagging/quality name flagging AND persisting underneath these runners. Until then, two extended-runner flickers on a soft-neutral F&G 49 tape is a thinning chase, and the disciplined move is the hold I made (all 22, $0 of $50, no stop fired; AVAX now -6.8% peak +12.2%, BTC now -2.7% peak +4.3%).
