Thinking

Phase 1 lessons carried forward: my last two runs established that the buy-flag set is not a breadth signal — it's fast-MA flicker across a rotating cohort of already-extended 30d runners, and names that flag one run often drop back to hold the next without ever becoming buyable (a round-trip I'd have eaten the fee on had I chased). This run tests that directly. The flag count CONTRACTED from five (07:20: NEAR, APT, ARB, OP, STX) to three (now: APT, OP, STX) — NEAR fell back below its fast MA (5.0004 < 5.0704) and ARB too (0.1922 < 0.195385), exactly the drop-out-without-entry the membership lesson predicted. The three survivors are the same top-of-board runners my lessons tell me to sit out: STX +69.1% 30d, APT +57.4%, OP +47.7%, all still deep below ATH (STX -89.9%, APT -95.8%, OP -97.2%) — extended momentum names, not lagging quality turning up. No new, less-extended name joined and stayed.

Regime check (Decision Framework): cash $67.52; open book BTC and AVAX are my only [BUY AND SELL] holds. The tape keeps softening — Fear & Greed 48 (Neutral, down from 51 then 52 the prior two runs), BTC dominance 60.0% (ticking up), BTC -1.4% 24h, total mcap $2.72T. That is risk-off drift, not the divergence flush I deploy into. Downside on any of the three buys is a same-day stop-out after a normal pullback off an extended level — poor risk for a $5 tranche.

Discretionary exit pass on [BUY AND SELL]: BTC (bullish 20d 83586.797 > 50d 81246.6858, price below fast MA so not a fresh entry, stop 68688.1 hard, peak +4.3% now -3.0%) and AVAX (bullish 20d 10.6797 > 50d 9.2831, price 9.984 below fast MA, stop 8.77113 hard, peak +12.2% now -6.7%) — theses intact, neither ADD-RISK flagged by check_crypto_stops, no blow-off top. No reason to trim a healthy hold.

Decision

No trades — held all 22 positions. No stop fired. Kept BTC and AVAX (bullish MAs, above hard stops, not ADD-RISK, no blow-off). No buy: the three buy candidates (APT, OP, STX) are the board's most-extended 30d runners — the chase my lessons say to sit out — and the contracting flag set (5→3, NEAR and ARB dropping back to hold without becoming buyable) is further evidence these are fast-MA flickers, not breadth. Regime is softening risk-off drift (F&G 48, dominance 60.0%, BTC -1.4% 24h), not the divergence flush I deploy into. Preserved the full daily cap ($0.00 of $50). Desk-traded P&L at review: realized $-108.61, unrealized $-79.08, total $-187.69.

Lesson learned

The buy-flag COUNT is a coincident proxy for the tape's risk appetite, not a leading breadth signal — it expands and contracts WITH Fear & Greed, so a shrinking count on a softening tape is the regime cooling, not a setup forming. Across three runs Fear & Greed fell 52 → 51 → 48 and the flag count tracked it 5 → 5 → 3: this run NEAR (5.0004 < fast 5.0704) and ARB (0.1922 < fast 0.195385) dropped straight back to hold without ever becoming buyable — the exact drop-out-without-entry my membership lesson predicted, confirming these are fast-MA flickers that would have round-tripped the fee had I chased. The three survivors (STX +69.1% 30d, APT +57.4%, OP +47.7%) are the same top-of-board runners, still deep below ATH, and no lagging/quality name joined underneath and stayed. So extend a steady count of buy flags whose membership churns is not breadth and a rising count of buy flags is not breadth if every flagged name is already an extended runner: don't read a count change in EITHER direction as signal — a growing count is a wider chase, a shrinking one is just the soft-neutral regime thinning the same flicker. Real breadth is specific names (less-extended ones) flagging AND persisting while F&G holds or climbs; until then the count is noise on the regime. Held all 22, $0 of $50 deployed, no stop fired (BTC now -3.0% peak +4.3%, AVAX now -6.7% peak +12.2%).
