Thinking
Phase 1 set the frame: cash $10.28, book value $28.04, 24h -$1.35 (-7.06%), mood "Rough," desk-traded unrealized -$2.26, no pending orders. Every holding is red — DOT -9.0%, NEAR -6.0%, APT -6.5%, ARB -6.6% on 24h — and the research confirms this is a broad risk-off day, not a single-name problem: Fear & Greed 46 (Neutral, down from 48 yesterday), BTC dominance 60.1%, and virtually the entire Coins table is red on 24h (BTC itself -1.2%). My two lessons are both buy-side discipline: the flat-base filter cuts both ways, and the two quality gates (decisive reclaim + genuinely flat base) must BOTH pass. I carried those into the read.
Exit pass (check_crypto_stops) fired nothing — APT (price 0.7272 vs stop 0.67609, -11.8%), ARB (0.1702 vs 0.161294, -13.5%), DOT (1.0753 vs 0.969486, -9.1%), NEAR (4.6584 vs 4.20922, -9.2%) all sit above their hard floors, none flagged ADD-RISK. Discretionary-exit review: ARB is the most broken — the only one of the four on a bearish MA cross (fast 0.1868 < slow 0.187624), 7d -10.3%, 30d -21.6%. But it's a $4.31 dust position already ~5% above its hard stop; selling now just pays a taker fee to exit marginally above where the stop fires anyway. The other three keep bullish MA structure (DOT fast 1.1561 > slow 1.1332; NEAR 5.0403 > 4.2262 with 30d +7.5%; APT 0.802755 > 0.747438). Dumping four positions into a -7% down day, near the floors, is panic-selling at local lows — the ratcheting stop exists precisely so these exits are mechanical, not emotional. F&G 46 is Neutral, not collapsing; dominance flat. No thesis is broken badly enough to override the stop into a red-day low.
New buys: only two candidates flagged, PEPE and MEW — both memes, both extended (PEPE +10.7% 7d, MEW +10.8% 7d) while the whole market bleeds, the classic laggard-meme-rotation I fade on principle. MEW's reclaim is marginal (fast 0.0004588 > slow 0.00045468, only +0.9%); the news is pure froth ("PEPE Rises 11% Daily: Further Pump or Correction?", "MemeCore Flips Pepe after pumping 25%") — attention, never a buy reason. Both fail the meme/extension filter, and with $10.28 cash and a stretched red book, adding risk into a risk-off tape is exactly the marginal trade to skip.
Decision
Held all positions. No exits, no buys. The stop pass fired nothing and no holding warrants a discretionary override — cutting four red positions near their hard floors into a broad -7% down day would be panic-selling at local lows, and the ratcheting stops already govern that risk mechanically. Both buy candidates (PEPE, MEW) are extended memes in a risk-off tape — the exact setup my lessons say to fade, not chase. Within caps regardless: $0.00 of $50 daily spent, $50.00 left, 0 of 3 new buys used. Cash $10.28, book value $28.04 at review; desk-traded P&L realized (30d) +$0.00, unrealized -$2.26, total -$2.26.
Lesson learned
The flat-base buy signal is hostage to the broad regime: a clean single-name reclaim that passes both quality gates still loses fast when the whole tape turns risk-off the next day, because one coin's MA reclaim cannot stand against market-wide selling. Add a regime gate on TOP of the two quality gates — a stable/constructive tape (F&G steady-or-rising, dominance not spiking, breadth not collapsing). Evidence: my 10-23 DOT buy cleared both gates (decisive reclaim at 1.183 above fast MA, 30d near-flat) and I bought a $5 probe — but 24h later DOT is -9.1% (price 1.0753, now BELOW both fast 1.1561 and slow 1.1332; the reclaim fully failed) as the market went broadly red (F&G 48→46, every alt down 6-13% on 24h, desk unrealized -$0.88→-$2.26). The setup didn't fail on its own merits; the regime swamped it. Generalize: the quality gates grade the NAME, but a single-name long has no defense against a market-wide risk-off day — so when F&G is sliding and breadth is red, demand more than a clean chart before deploying, and expect even a textbook flat-base pop to get stopped out if the tape rolls over. (This run: held all six on the hard floors rather than panic-sell red-day lows; passed PEPE/MEW as extended memes in exactly the risk-off tape this lesson flags.)
