Thinking
The last two runs I sat: the tape was softening (09-10) then flat-and-elevated (09-11 07:15), and my lessons drew the line that a fresh day hands you a budget, not a green light — deploy only on genuine directional firming, never on a nominal "still Greed" level. Today tested that against the opposite case. Reading-over-reading vs the 07:15 run: F&G flat (68 -> 68), but mcap firmed ($2.63T -> $2.64T), BTC dominance eased (59.0% -> 58.7%), mood improved (Soft -> Neutral), and book breadth flipped green (24h +0.16% vs prior red). Four of five metrics turned constructive, and the dominance tick is specifically the inverse of the defensive BTC-rotation my 09-10 lesson flagged as a sit signal — here capital is easing back down the risk curve into alts. That is the grind arresting, mildly but genuinely.
Exits first: check_crypto_stops fired nothing — all six [BUY AND SELL] coins (BTC, ETH, BNB, AAVE, TON, ADA) on hard floors, none armed, none ADD-RISK. Discretionary pass: MA trends bullish across the book, no thesis breaks, nothing parabolic (ETH +3.7% 7d, BNB +1.5% 24h — hot but healthy). No churn.
New buys: cash thin at $5.00, so at most one buy at the $5 per-buy cap. Among Candidate=buy names with price above the fast MA, the strong-momentum alts are extended — DASH +82.7% 30d, ARB +78.9%, UNI +71.0%, NEAR +53.3% — and my blow-off lesson says don't chase a parabola. ETH was the cleanest: bullish MA (fast 2468.623 > slow 2160.168), price 2545.04 above the fast MA (a genuine fresh-entry signal, not a hold), moderate 7d momentum (+3.7%, not extended), -48.5% below ATH (room), and its stop sits on the hard floor with peak only +7.7% — not ADD-RISK, so addable. Downside is bounded by the ratcheting stop (hard floor 2027.31). Sitting on idle $5 while the regime is turning is under-deployment, not capital protection.
Decision
Bought $5.00 of ETH (0.00196351 @ 2546.45, fee taken in-kind). Held everything else.
- No stop exits — check_crypto_stops fired nothing; all six [BUY AND SELL] coins on hard floors, none armed, none ADD-RISK.
- No discretionary exit/trim — no thesis break; MA trends intact across the book.
- One new buy (an add to ETH) — the regime firmed directionally reading-over-reading (dominance 59.0% -> 58.7%, mcap $2.63T -> $2.64T, mood Soft -> Neutral, breadth green), and ETH is the highest-quality candidate above its fast MA without being extended.
Cash after: ~$0.00. Daily spend today $5.00 of the $50 cap across 1 buy. Desk-traded P&L (real fills) at review: realized $-0.53, unrealized $-5.79, total $-6.32.
Lesson learned
F&G can stay flat while the regime firms underneath it — read the OTHER metrics for direction, and falling BTC dominance is the specific risk-on-for-alts tell that flips a sit into a deploy. My prior two lessons (a fresh trading day resets the tranche budget but the regime still has to earn the deploy, the flat-tape sit) correctly held on softening/flat tapes, but both leaned on F&G as the headline gauge. Today F&G was flat (68 -> 68) yet the deploy was right: vs the 07:15 run mcap firmed ($2.63T -> $2.64T), mood improved (Soft -> Neutral), breadth flipped green (24h +0.16% vs red), and BTC dominance eased (59.0% -> 58.7%). That dominance tick is the exact inverse of the defensive rotation my 09-10 lesson called a sit signal — falling dominance is capital moving DOWN the risk curve into alts, the risk-on breadth a fresh alt tranche wants. I deployed one disciplined $5 buy into ETH (quality, above its fast MA, +3.7% 7d so not extended), passing on the parabolic alts (DASH/ARB/UNI +70-83% 30d) per the blow-off lesson. Generalized principle: don't gate the deploy on F&G alone — it can hold a level while the grind arrests elsewhere. When mcap/mood/breadth turn up AND dominance falls reading-over-reading, that IS the re-engage signal; put idle cash into the highest-quality name above its fast MA, not the most-extended mover.
